Welcome 2021
Linda Wegner

In mulling over my thoughts regarding this coming year, I decided to see what other writers had to say on the subject. Here are two quotes from Peggy Horton:

“Each New Year, we have before us a brand-new book containing 365 blank pages. Let us fill them with all the forgotten things from last year—the words we forgot to say, the love we forgot to show, and the charity we forgot to offer”…“As the old year retires and a new one is born, we commit into the hands of our Creator the happenings of the past year and ask for direction and guidance in the new one. May He grant us His grace, His tranquility and His wisdom!”

Such great words and thoughts but the quote that’s hung above my computer for a number of years also means much to me:

“Stop being afraid of what could go wrong and start being excited about what could go right” (Mindset of Greatness)

It’s redundant to say that 2020 has been a tough year and I’d be less than honest if I didn’t admit that I, along everyone else I know, have battled loneliness that’s descended into discouragement and near-depression at times. I’ve honestly wondered what people do when they do not access the peace and security that’s found in Christ.

But heading into this new year and, in fact, this new decade, we are encouraged to hear of vaccines that are becoming available. Associated with that is the possibility that soon we may be able to gather for worship services, for social gatherings and even with our family who live just blocks away from us. Yahoo!

Abandon fear. Embrace faith. He is faithful.

“You crown the year with Your bounty, and Your paths overflow.” Psalm 65:11

Hold fast to that promise and Happy New Year!
