When everything moves
Linda Wegner

To say this has been a somewhat unusual week is an understatement of significant implications. There, how’s that for an impressive first statement? Put in simpler language, it’s been a tough year, tough seven months and for me, an unexpectedly tough week. Pull up your chair, grab a coffee or tea and see if you agree.

It started late last week when I noticed that Hubby was looking unusually pale and breathing heavily. The next day wasn’t any better and not to drag this out, I finally got bossy and told him to get in the car. I took him to hospital where he was immediately admitted and put into the Intensive Care unit. No, not COVID, thank God, but there were other serious, potentially life-threatening side effects of an existing condition. Probably far too much information but all that to say I was thrilled to bring him home from hospital.

Except…I didn’t bring him home ‘cause our car died. Our nephew took me; I am so thankful for the most wonderful family members and neighbours who have also offered to pick up our groceries, take us where we need to go and so much more. Arrangements to have the car taken to the garage are also taken care of.

Though these laments are applicable to our family, I’m sure we’re not alone in receiving help. We’re all labouring under the load of COVID and not even the most steadfast person is immune to the effect of that stress. All I can say is that there’s nothing more comforting than knowing that God is our Solid Rock.

“And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.” Matthew 7:24-25”

Be encouraged. Look up. He never moves!
